May 6, 2021 - BC Salmon Farming Industry Perspective

On May 6, the BC Salmon Farmers Association will speak to the Surrey Board of Trade at a digital town hall on BC Salmon Farming Industry Perspective.

The federal government recently decided to end salmon farms in the Discovery Islands region off Vancouver Island's west coast. This decision puts hundreds of jobs at risk. Find out the future and economic impact of this industry and its supply chain on Surrey and BC.

John Paul Fraser is Executive Director of the BC Salmon Farmers Association which has represented and advanced industry interests with governments and communities of interest for over 35 years. Previously, John served as provincial Deputy Minister, focused on government communications, public engagement and corporate priorities. Over a 25 year career, he has held various roles in both the public and private sectors, including Vice President of a national public relations agency with a practice focusing on risk management and corporate responsibility; Deputy Director of the Liu Institute, an international relations think-tank situated at UBC; and policy advisor and communications director to former Fisheries and Environment Minister David Anderson, PC MP.
