WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant who is committed to business excellence and possesses a positive attitude. As an integral member of the Ferro team who reports to management, your principle responsibilities will be to provide full-cycle accounting support and general reception responsibilities.
 
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:

  • Provide exceptional customer service that builds long-standing relationships with our clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Provide general accounts payable support including code and post AP invoices, distribute vendor invoices for authorization,  prepare vendor payments and reconcile vendor statements, process and manage company credit cards, process employee expense claims, assist with processing and creation of purchase orders and apply for vendor credit.
  • Provide general accounts receivable support including preparing progress claims for the project management team, processing statutory declerations, generating WCB clearance letters and follow-up on aging receivables.
  • Manage incoming calls and direct accordingly in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist with month-end reporting, including reconciliation, job cost report and preparation of sales tax remittances.
  • Provide general office and administrative support to a team of 10 employees.
  • Participate in other ad-hoc duties and  general projects as assigned.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Minimum 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Completion or partial completion of diploma or degree related in accounting.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or Sage accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience in construction cost-coding considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate professionally both written and oral.
  • Willingness to learn in a team-based and collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Willingness to support group synergy through the pursuit of collective company goals.
