British Columbians will have to vote in the Fall on whether to keep the current electoral system of first-past-the-post (FPTP) or to move to one of three types of proportional representation.

The BC government is proceeding with a Referendum on Electoral Reform for provincial elections. The referendum voting period will be between October 1 to November 30, 2018. Businesses and residents are seeking clarity on this issue.

Participants will learn:

  1. Why this is important to business
  2. The choices of voting systems being proposed
  3. Will it improve democracy and enhance economic decision making for BC communities
Attend the Surrey Hot Topic Dialogue on the proposed voting system for the province of BC.

In preparation for the Surrey Board of Trade Hot Topic Dialogue, we ask for two minutes of your time to complete our survey.

Panelists:
  • Seth Klein - Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives
