Surrey Board of Trade luncheon featuring the Deputy Premier of BC and Finance Minister Kevin Falcon: BC’s Economy and the HST.

He will share options for British Columbian’s in advance of the historic harmonized sales tax referendum. Falcon will speak about the steps being taken by government to engage the public in a discussion about the HST with the business community: setting an earlier date for the referendum, appointing an independent panel to report on the HST and the previous PST/GST system, organizing tele-town halls led by members of cabinet, appointing a former ombudsman to oversee a funding program for the “yes” and “no” sides, and providing funding to universities, colleges and institutes to organize public forums on the HST.
