About the Speakers
Heather Exner-Pirot, PhD
Heather Exner-Pirot brings over 15 years of expertise in Indigenous and northern economic development, governance, health, and post-secondary education. She has an extensive publication record on topics including Indigenous economic and resource development, energy security, and Arctic innovation. Heather is a Global Fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington DC, a Special Adviser to the Business Council of Canada, and a Research Advisor for the Indigenous Resource Network. She has chaired numerous panels and workshops at provincial, national, and international levels.
Rory Johnston
Rory Johnston is a renowned oil market researcher based in Toronto. He is the founder of Commodity Context and a lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Rory is also a Fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and the Payne Institute for Public Policy at the Colorado School of Mines. Previously, he led commodity economics research at Scotiabank, where he set energy and metals price forecasts and advised the bank’s executives and clients. Known for his ability to distill complex energy data into clear, concise charts, Rory's insights are highly valued in the sector.
Bikramjit Kanjilal
Bikramjit Kanjilal is a marine professional with long experience in the marine industry. In his career Bikram has sailed globally, including as master in command of Very Large Crude Carriers, and subsequently held senior roles in ship management, mainly dealing with oil and gas shipping, before transitioning to lead marine development related to the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. He is currently the Director of Burnaby and Westridge Terminals, and continues to oversee all marine aspects of Trans Mountain’s operations. He holds a Master Mariner Certificate of competency from Transport Canada and management certificates from the University of British Columbia.
