Featuring Keynote Speakers:
Anthony Jones – Founder/CEO, Hunky Haulers
Anthony is the Owner/Founder and CEO of Hunky Haulers Inc. A lifelong entrepreneur, Anthony started his first company, a commercial sub-contracting construction company at the age of 19, with $600 to his name. By the time he was 29, they were up to $20 million in labor contracts ($300 million in labor and supply signed contracts to fulfill.) As a result, Anthony moved his operations outside of Canada and set up his business in the United States. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2008 when the recession hit, Anthony had to liquidate this business in order to ensure he could make payroll due to uncollectable receivables. By January of 2009, he had to lay off over 200 union men and women employees and start from scratch.
In 2011, Anthony received a door hanger from a local junk removal company and, being the true Canadian entrepreneur that he is, saw an opportunity to develop a business that could make a difference in his community and take a very different approach to traditional “junk removal companies.” With branding in his veins, Anthony came up with the name Hunky Haulers and started working with a many local and national charities such as Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, to help them service their donors with large furniture items, that which the donation center’s did not accept.
Marco Pasqua – Co-Founder, Executive Director, Hunky Haulers
Marco has been involved in philanthropy and community-based programs for the past twenty years. Not only has he been able to contribute to these programs, but he has also been a recipient. At birth, he was three months premature, only weighing only two pounds ten ounces; he would later be diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
Despite facing adversity since day one and enduring over thirteen surgeries as a child, Marco's parents raised him to believe that no goal was too out of reach, and no challenge was too hard to conquer. He first started speaking in front of large audiences at the age of 10; it was then that he realized the impact that words can have. Since then, he has started his own company as an Inspirational Speaker and has been involved with a number of organizations (including Easter Seals/The Lions Society of BC, The Sunshine Foundation, The Active Living Alliance, and The United Way) as a spokesperson, helping to spread advocacy for persons with disabilities across Canada, and proving that anything is possible when you invest the right kind of energy and creativity.
