Invitation to hear Rob Calia from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Speak on Counterfeit Goods Dangers to the Public
The Surrey Board of Trade and the City of Surrey Crime Reduction Strategy are proud to partner with the US Consulate to present Rob Calia, director, counterfeiting and piracy, Global Intellectual Property Center, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will speak at the Surrey Board of Trade from 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 on counterfeit goods and the danger some of these products pose to the public. Mr. Calia will also discuss U.S. and Canadian legislation on counterfeit and ways the two countries can work cooperatively on this problem.
Sponsored by U.S. Consulate General Vancouver, Mr. Calia is the principal coordinator, strategist and representative of Chamber member interests before the administration, Congress and state and local policymakers. He also leads the Chamber’s counterfeiting and piracy business and consumer education program.
In addition, Mr. Calia serves as the secretariat for the Chamber-led Coalition Against Counterfeiting and Piracy (CACP), a broad-based business coalition with more than 650 members. CACP represents companies of all sizes from nearly every industry that is committed to the fight against counterfeiting and piracy.
Previously, Mr. Calia worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce as special assistant in the office of USA Trade Promotion, a division of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service.
