Extreme weather events such as snow, floods, or heatwaves have significant impacts on the profitability, operations, and infrastructure of our cities and businesses, sometimes leading to an economic meltdown. Businesses and cities need to learn strategies for incorporating weather resilience to ensure our economy moves and doesn’t come to a standstill.
 
Extreme heat is already having a significant impact on the Canadian economy, particularly in heat-exposed industries like agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, and transportation. Flooding due to heavy precipitation causes direct economic damage such as destroyed housing and roads or lost crops.
