Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day for Canadians to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system. It's a day to honour the resilience, dignity and strength of survivors and remember the children who never came home. It's a chance to engage and educate people about B.C.'s colonial history and how it has and continues to impact Indigenous communities.
Committed to its own reconciliation journey and to supporting others to engage in this critical work, the BC Chamber of Commerce invites you to "Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation", a virtual event designed to facilitate education, reflection and meaningful dialogue about the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system in B.C. and across Canada.
The theme of this year's session is "Walking Together: Shared Responsibility on the Path to Reconciliation". Reconciliation is not a one-time act, but an ongoing journey that requires commitment, humility, and shared responsibility. This year, we invite you to walk with us—toward deeper understanding, stronger relationships, and collective action. Through dialogue, education, and lived experience, we will reflect on how we can each play a part in advancing reconciliation in our communities and workplaces.
