Guest Speaker: Ms. Jas Cheema Bio: Jas Cheema is a recognized leader in the fields of inter-cultural communication and community engagement. Her experience includes the development and implementation of a care giving support program for Seniors Comeshare Society; the development of a Diversity Services portfolio for Fraser Health and Board Chair, Surrey Libraries. The first South Asian woman to join the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, she was instrumental in engaging the South Asian community to support healthcare in Surrey which resulted in the historical naming of Guru Nanak Emergency Services. Jas is also a passionate facilitator/coach who has designed and delivered personal development workshops both for public and private sector employees. Jas believes that anyone can design and live a life full of peace and joy. She has learned that the secret to happiness and fulfilling relations is already inside each of us, the key is simply to learn the skills and then apply them. Jas has been recognized for her commitment to the community through various awards such as Leader of the Year, Women of Distinction, Queens Golden Jubilee Award and the Griffin Award for making a difference through the art of writing. She is currently a Mentor with BC Community Response Networks, an organization that works to support prevention of neglect and abuse of older adults. Jas lives in Surrey with her two beautiful children and enjoys meditation and yoga.
