Global Spectrum facility managers of the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre along with UnionEvents.com are pleased to announce that the wildly entertaining and million-selling Decca recording artists Celtic Thunder will bring their world tour in support of their new album Heritage to the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre on Saturday, October 29, 2011.
Tickets will be on sale to the general public on Friday April 15, 2011 at 10 AM through abbotsfordcentre.ca, the AESC Box Office or by phone at 1-866-977 – AESC (2372).
Heritage, produced by Sharon Browne and longtime collaborator Phil Coulter, features performances by fan-favorites - each with their own unique stage personas - Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly and George Donaldson, along with the newest member of the ensemble, Emmet Cahill, who takes over for Byrom on future tours and recordings. Coulter comments, “We all deeply appreciate Paul’s unique contribution to the group from the start… we are equally confident that Emmet will bring his own gifts and individuality to Celtic Thunder.” Delivering stirring and show-stopping performances in the tradition of their previous releases (Celtic Thunder: The Show, Act Two, Take Me Home, It’s Entertainment and most recently, Christmas), Celtic Thunder now return to their distinct Irish roots with this inspired collection of songs, including the sweet and tranquil "Kindred Spirits", the rousing jig, "A Place In The Choir", the seductive “Black Is The Color,” and the upbeat "Whiskey In The Jar," to name a few. Their 60-minute DVD was shot in high-definition and filmed in front of a live audience in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Since the airing of their first PBS special in 2008, Celtic Thunder consistently remains one of the most popular musical acts for the network. In addition to their impressive sales stats of almost one million units combined, they have sold over 350,000 concert tickets. Their official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube” has received over 15 million upload views since its inception in 2008. Celtic Thunder had the distinct honor of performing for President Obama at The White House’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration in 2009, and they also opened New York City’s famed St. Patrick’s Day Parade on 5th Avenue two consecutive years in a row (2008 & 2009). They have also performed on the Today Show, CBS Early Show’s Saturday Second Cup Café, and numerous regional shows in major cities across America. Of their live performances, The Virginian-Pilot noted, “no matter what they tackle they do it with ‘beaucoup’ energy” and The New York Times described the group as “a Fab Five peddling Celtic stylings.”
