These sessions serve as both an orientation to good governance as well as a refresher for those who have previously received governance training.\n\n\nWednesday\, November 9 Module 1 - The Rules\nWhat is the board's role in good governance? What are bylaws\, policies\, terms of reference and what do you do with them?\n\n \nWednesday\, November 16: Module 2 - The Strategy\nHow do you handle your board's year effectively and efficiently within volunteers' limited time? We discover the board's annual work plan\, meeting agendas and strategic plan.\n\n \nWednesday\, November 23: Module 3 - The Players\nHow do you find the right people for your board? We talk about the recruitment and development of all your directors\, having effective committees and the senior staff person's annual performance review.\n\n \nWednesday\, November 30: Regroup & Discussion\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDue to the generous sponsorship from Amica White Rock\, we are able to provide this series at a considerable discount. Deb has studied board governance for over twenty years\, primarily through The Governance Group based in Vancouver. She has served on many boards\, including national and provincial boards\, for over thirty-five years.\n\n\n\nDeb also worked at the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for nineteen years\, supporting her board of directors as they transitioned to a solid governance model.\n\n\n\nWithin all these experiences\, Deb came to realize that governance\, when done right\, could be fun and easy. That is why she has developed governance workshops\, including a streamlined strategic planning process\, that are highly effective\, engaging and inspiring.\n\n\n\nDeb has been recognized as Executive of the Year and Chamber of the Year by her provincial network and Executive of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada. Most recently\, she was appointed to the Council of Excellence by a panel of her peers across the country and appointed as a of Fellow of the BC Chamber of Commerce.
