The event will still take place at the Civic Hotel\, 13475 Central Ave\, Surrey\, BC.\n\n\n\nWe do sincerely apologize to our many friends and community partners who had looked forward to joining us on the original date of October 22nd\, 2022 for this memorable evening of celebration and storytelling.\n\n\n\nUmoja has served new immigrants and refugees in the lower mainland since 2002. We effectively support new arrivals toward successful acculturation and mainstreaming into Canadian society. Since inception\, we have served an est. 4\,000 families through creative\, culturally attuned programs that include adult literacy and life skills classes\, children 6-12 years after school activities\, parenting classes\, family and youth outreach\, vocational training\, employment support\, and contextual life skills exposure as well as cultural brokerage and referral services. We also run our Seeds of Change food bank.\n\n\n\nAs a non-profit body\, Umoja relies entirely on generous contributions from the community for maximum impact\, and we are deeply thankful to those who have supported us over the years! Our annual galas bring together people of all backgrounds\, and your presence would make for an even more engaging occasion! We typically expect at least 100 attendees\, and this entertaining in-person event will include shared stories about Umoja's continuing impact.
