Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Toni Gravelle will speak about recent progress in the economic recovery from COVID\, and will discuss the Bank's December interest rate decision.\n\n\n\nSurrey Board of Trade guests will have the exclusive opportunity to submit a question.\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Toni Gravelle\, Deputy Governor\n\n\n\nRegistered participants will have the exclusive opportunity to submit questions for the Deputy Governor after his speech. The webinar link and passcode will be sent to registered participants before the event.\n\n\n\nToni Gravelle became Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada in October 2019. In this\n\nrole\, he oversees the Bank?s financial system activities and shares responsibility for\n\nsetting monetary policy.\n\n\n\nMr. Gravelle first joined the Bank as an analyst in 1996 and went on to hold various positions within the Financial Markets Department\, becoming Managing Director in 2015. In addition to his extensive research experience at the Bank\, Mr. Gravelle served as General Director of the Financial Sector Policy Branch at the Canadian Department of Finance from 2013 to 2015 and was an economist at the International Monetary Fund from 2002 to 2005.\n\n\nMr. Gravelle is a native of Corbeil\, Ontario\, and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from\n\nWestern University.
