 BRAZIL

Join the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CCBC) on October 18 and 19 from 
2:00 - 5:00 pm EST to learn about opportunities in the Brazilian health sector. In addition to having several public hospitals, Brazil also has approximately 4,200 private hospitals that are seeking company collaborations that offer solutions in telehealth, energy efficiency, cost reduction and hospital waste management. Companies that offer these types of solutions can connect with Brazilian hospitals through quick B2B meetings on zoom between buyers and suppliers.   

 

COSTA RICA

Surrey Board of Trade met with the Costa Rica Health Chamber in August. Collaborative opportunities and connections through the Surrey International Trade Centre will be announced for the health & technology industry.

 

 FIJI

Following the first ever Fiji Airways aircraft on Canadian soil, delegates from Fiji Tourism and Fiji Airways officially launched the Vancouver to Fiji direct flight commencing on November 25, 2022. The Surrey Board of Trade was in attendance.

 

INDIA

IRELAND

The Surrey Board of Trade was at the Consulate General of Ireland in Vancouver to visit and witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Ireland and BC on higher education.

 

MEXICO

CMX Partnerships, with the support of the Surrey Board of Trade, will feature a trade mission on October 24 ? 29, 2022 in BC, to promote trade between BC and Mexico. The industry focuses are inclusive and sustainable businesses in economic sectors including clean technologies, IT, creative industries and agrifoods. The event will consist of business-to-business meetings between Mexican delegates and Canadian business representatives. PAKISTAN

Surrey Board of Trade's Surrey International Trade Centre met with the Consul General of Pakistan, Janbaz Khan, and the new Pakistan-Western Canada Trade Association.


Pakistan business representatives will be arriving on October 20, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Surrey Board of Trade. The meeting will be focused on the sports industry - shoes, sports gear, clothing, etc. (Pakistan makes many of the FIFA products). The Cascadia Innovation Corridor is hosting the Cascadia Economic Corridor Conference in Blaine, WA, featuring Bill Gates as one of the amazing high profile speakers. Surrey Board of Trade President & CEO Anita Huberman will be speaking at the closing event at the Peace Arch State Park.

 

VIETNAM

Join the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam on September 8 from 9:00 am -10:00 am to learn about how to do business in Vietnam. Learn how Vietnam has become Canada's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region, hitting a record of $10.5 billion CAD in bilateral trade in 2021.

 

TRADE DOCUMENTATION NEWS

Globally, less than 2% of world trade is carried on electronic bills of lading. This is partly due to lack of open standards and interoperability. To help increase adoption of digital trade documents in shipping, BIMCO has published an electronic bill of lading standard (eBL Standard) for the bulk shipping sector, freely available to any electronic bill of lading solution provider.
